Utrecht claim Vorm payment

Utrecht have claimed that Swansea City owe them a cut of Michel Vorm s transfer fee after the goalkeeper moved to Tottenham last month.

The Netherlands international agreed a four-year contract at White Hart Lane in July to bring to an end his three-year spell at Swansea.

Vorm started his professional career at Utrecht, making 157 appearances before switching to the Liberty Stadium in 2011.

The Eredivisie side say that as part of that deal, a 30 per cent sell-on clause was agreed, but they are yet to receive any information from Swansea relating to this following the move.

In quotes reported by BBC Wales, Utrecht general manager Wilco van Schaik slammed Huw Jenkins after the Swansea chairman had reportedly told him Vorm was released on a free transfer.

Newcastle agree deal for Lukaku

According to a report from Sky Sports, Newcastle United have agreed on a loan deal that will see them sign Jordan Lukaku – the younger brother of Manchester United’s Romelu.

Jordan just about missed out on Belgium’s World Cup squad last summer, but ever since then he has been fighting tooth and nail to build himself back up. Lukaku has been with Lazio since 2016, when he made the jump over from Oostende.

For Newcastle fans, this will mark the long awaited return to transfer dealings for the club. It’s no secret that Rafa Benitez has been desperate to bring in more reinforcements over the course of the last month or so, with some fans wondering whether it not it wound end up being the catalyst behind him leaving the club.

Manchester City v Liverpool: No Ederson, Mane or Firmino – but who made our combined XI?

The destiny of the 2018-19 Premier League title could become a lot clearer on Thursday if Liverpool are able to beat champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp s men were impeccable over the Christmas period as Pep Guardiola s team wobbled and the Reds would extend their lead to 10 points with victory.

But a restorative 3-1 win at Southampton on Sunday means City can potentially haul in their rivals and reignite a quest to become the first back-to-back winners of England s top flight for a decade.

Predicting how this heavyweight showdown might be resolved with be fiercely debated because, as our combined XI shows, the reserves of talent available to both managers are truly enviable.
